Bafana Qualify for AFCON 2025 Without Kicking a Ball

In a thrilling turn of events, South Africa’s national soccer team, Bafana Bafana, has automatically qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

This achievement comes without the team having to kick a ball, lifting the pressure from their upcoming qualifiers. The team will now shift their focus to maintaining form and ending the year on a high note.

Coach Hugo Broos is determined not to let this milestone breed complacency. Speaking ahead of the remaining qualifiers against Uganda on Friday, 15 November, and South Sudan on Tuesday, 19 November, Broos emphasized the importance of finishing the year with a winning streak.

“We want to win the game, we want to win to end top of the group and that means we have to beat Uganda. So (qualifying) does not change anything for us. I hope that it will be a nice game and a good game. It will be a full house, and there will be a lot of atmosphere inside the stadium. This is motivation for the players and let us hope that the best team wins today,” he said.

The South African squad heads into these matches with renewed confidence, knowing their AFCON spot is secure.

However, Broos is calling for focus and discipline as they prepare to face tough competition on the road to Kampala and back home at the DHL Cape Town Stadium.
