Big guns avoid each other in Nedbank Cup round of 32
The 32 teams competing in the upcoming 2024/25 Nedbank cup – the most prestigious competition in county – learned who they will play after the draw took place in Sandton, on Thursday, January 9.
This year’s competition sees 16 DStv Premiership clubs, eight Motsepe Foundation Championship teams and eight clubs from the SAFA Regional leagues.
The Premier Soccer League’s top brand Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have all learnt their fate ahead of the competition’s opening phase.
Reigning champions Orlando Pirates, who won back to back triumphs must get through Richards Bay on their quest to defend their title.
Last year’s runners- up Mamelodi Sundowns will face third-tier Sibanye Golden Stars.
Amakhosi will also host third-tier opponents Free Agents FC from the SAFA Gauteng region in what is sure to be an intriguing encounter.
The dates and venues for the last 32 matches will be confirmed by the PSL in due course.
