Cash-in-transit heist stopped by traffic officer

A Gauteng Traffic Officer patrolling the R25 Road in Edenvale managed to singlehandedly stop an ongoing cash-in-transit heist at the Greenstone Mall.

The officer got a tip-off from a community member about a cash-in-transit heist at the shopping center on Friday, June 25.

“The officer proceeded to the mall and upon arrival, a shootout started by robbers ensued and suspects fled the scene.

Upon further inspection, the officer noticed that a cash in transit van belonging to Cash solutions was caused to be involved in an accident by a Grey BMW. The officer found the Grey BMW and a Lexus suspected to be used by the robbers,” said the Gauteng Traffic Police.

The officer found explosives in the BMW believed to be used to rob the cash in transit van.
