City cemeteries remain open during lockdown

The City of Ekurhuleni has operational measures in place to curb the spread of Covid-19 during burials.

The measures are based on Covid-19 prevention protocols of regular sanitization or hand washing, maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks.

Restrictions on access to the City’s cemeteries remain unchanged under the adjusted alert Level 3 of the Covid-19 lockdown.

This has not been affected by the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday, 25 July to move the country to an adjusted alert Level 3 of the Covid-19 lockdown.

These are the measures in place:

●      Burials will take place seven days a week including Sundays and public holidays.

●      The maximum number of people allowed per funeral is 50.

●      The maximum number of burials per day per cemetery is 14.
