The City of Ekurhuleni launched a series of acting classes for Grade 4 learners on Saturday, 3 June at the Leondale Public Library.
The classes, aimed at introducing the learners to acting as a career, will be conducted every Friday until 21 July at the same venue.
The classes will be facilitated by library cadets through a play called ‘There’s Drama in the Library!’
The learners will be introduced to acting concepts such as improvisation, characterization, music, arts and crafts, costume and make-up.
Not only will they learn about these concepts of the acting industry, but they will also get to know how reading increases empathy and connecting with the characters.
The budding actors and actresses will better understand various cultures, relationships, and reactions to situations. Furthermore, memorizing acting lines improves memory, an incredible skill applicable to many careers the learners might be interested in.
Details of the acting classes are as follows:
- Date: Every Friday until 21 July 2023
- Time: 14:30 – 16:00
- Venue: Leondale Public Library
