Click of Faith: A Self-Taught Photographer’s Road to Success
Pretty Lolo Gengqa (32), a self-taught photographer from Duduza, has a great eye to capture beautiful and impactful images.
“I’ve always loved taking pictures from an early age. I remember at some point they bought an analogue camera at home, and I was the one who would take pictures whenever we had any celebrations or special moments. In 2019, I was running a local dairy and, unfortunately, we had to close down due to COVID-19. We were sitting at home, and my sister asked me to take her a picture and jokingly said she was going to pay me. I took photography as a business since then, and I’m grateful for what I produce in the end. Believing in yourself can’t stop you from pursuing what was made for you.”
Pretty says capturing images is healing and therapeutic.
“Taking pictures gives me peace of mind, and I forget about everything else. I’m crazy about what I do and love being creative on a daily basis. I love to photograph people, nature, and businesses like weddings, parties, graduations, and everything else. I believe that every moment is important and must be captured.”
“I thank God for this amazing gift and am immensely grateful for the support from my family because I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for them.”
Pretty is currently pursuing a Media Consultant course at Boston.
“I decided to enroll for this course because it is relevant, and I believe that I should know the basics and fundamentals of the business. People can follow Pretty Media & Projects on Facebook, and we will be on other social media platforms.”
