Dark weekend for Mzansi

In the first weekend after the level 3 lockdown restrictions were eased with an extended curfew and the return of the sale of alcohol, South Africans will have loadahedding to deal with.

In a statement, power utility Eskom has put the entire country on level 2 Loadshedding from Friday, February 5 until Sunday.

“We regret to inform you that loadshedding stage 2 will be implemented from 12pm today until Sunday evening,” said Eskom.

In the statement, Eskom has attributed the latest power cuts to the persistent rainfalls, which have caused some units of the power stations to shut down indefinitely.

According to Eskom, it’s technicians are hard at work to restore the units, with additional plans to deal with the heavy downpours affecting stations in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
