Fake police vehicle found, suspect nabbed

Police received a tip-off that there was a suspicious looking police vehicle driving around the Rabie Ridge area on Tuesday, February 27.

Officers from the Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence, Trio Task Team, Tembisa Tracing Team, and Highway Patrol Unit acted on the information and discovered a Mazda van marked in police-branding.

The vehicle was intercepted around Midrand by police. The driver attempted to ran away but the police caught him.

Police also found out that the fake police van had been stolen in December last year and suspect it was being used in hijackings.

The suspects has appeared in court.
