Fire leaves Msipha family stranded
The Msipha family from Masechaba in Duduza would like to request any form of donations following a fire incident that burned their home on Tuesday, April 12, and left them stranded.
Busisiwe Msipha (40) said, “I woke up early to prepare the children for school and went back to bed because we had load shedding and on that day. After some time, I woke up and did the daily chores before we went to the shops to buy beans with my mother-in-law. On our way back, we were shocked when we saw that our home was in flames and neighbors with buckets of water running around trying to stop the fire, but it was too late.”
“I still don’t know what caused the fire, and this has devastated the family. We have also lost some money because there was a thousand rand that we had planned to buy school uniform. I live with my husband, mother-in-law, children, and other family members. No one is working, and we only depend on the social grant. I wish we can get help with our IDs and the children’s birth certificates. We have also lost some money because there was a thousand rand that we had planned to buy school uniform,” Busisiwe added.
Economic Freedom Fighters member, David Ndlovu, reiterated on the importance of giving back and unity.
“After hearing about this incident, we decided to come together as community members to show love and support,” he said.
Ekurhuleni Disaster Management donated two blankets and a sleeping mattress. “I’m very grateful for the donations, but we still need more, especially with clothes and food since we are a big family,” said another family member, Bongani Maseko.
A case has been opened at Duduza police station, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Anyone who is willing to donate can contact Maria Mkhwanazi on 073 340 7220.
