Footgolf South Africa Kicks Off 2025 Season with Exciting Tournament
The 2025 season of Footgolf South Africa (FGSA) officially got underway on February 1st with a thrilling event at the picturesque Hillside Golf Course in Tshwane North.
Dubbed the “Punters Paradise” tournament, the event saw over 60 enthusiastic participants take to the course, signaling a promising year ahead for the rapidly growing sport.
The competition featured players from various skill levels, showcasing the increasing dedication and competitive spirit within the local Footgolf community.
FGSA officials noted a marked improvement in overall performance, attributing it to players’ increased commitment to training and an evolving mindset towards the sport.
After a day of intense competition, FGSA crowned the top players across multiple categories:
- Men’s Senior Division: Scott Keevy, Clint White, Doctor Makhanya
- Men’s Division: Pitsi Molebatsi, Damian Rodgers, Tshepo Kekana
- Women’s Division: Mpho Makua, Kefilwe Mphake, Boitumelo Maleke
Building on the success of the season opener, FGSA is actively seeking new partnerships to advance the sport further. The organization aims to secure collaborations with brands that align with its vision of growing Footgolf across all age groups and genders.
FGSA has also made a strong appeal to corporations to invest in the sport’s infrastructure, particularly in the rehabilitation of golf courses to accommodate Footgolf.
Additional support in equipment, branding, and marketing initiatives is essential to boost participation and awareness nationwide.
FGSA CEO Eric Mlambo expressed his enthusiasm for the future of the sport. “We are at an exciting juncture,” Mlambo stated. “We have a fantastic opportunity to increase the number of South African participants at the upcoming World Cup and to establish Footgolf as a major sport across the continent.”
He emphasized the importance of increased visibility and financial support to enable young players to participate and drive developmental programs.
With FGSA’s Public Benefit Certification, Mlambo highlighted the potential advantages for organizations looking to support the initiative.
With the season now in full swing, FGSA encourages more players and supporters to get involved.
Whether you are a seasoned player or a newcomer looking for an exciting and accessible sport, Footgolf offers an engaging opportunity to compete and connect.
