Gauteng hosts finals for U15 team

Gauteng’s best Under-15 football talent will be on display in Tshwane on Saturday, July 27, when the province holds the Finals to select players and teams (girls and boys) for the upcoming National Schools Sport Championships in about 2 weeks which will be hosted in Gauteng.

The finals will see players representing their districts and competing for a spot in the provincial team.

Gauteng has 15 educational public-school districts.

A total of 20 spots are available in the team for the boys and 15 for the girls. The boys play 11-aside while the girls play 7-aside.

Entrance is free for the games; all parents and families are welcome to come out in their numbers to support Gauteng’s young talent. Kick-off for the first game begin at 9 am.

Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Matome Chiloane has praised Gauteng’s young sporting talent.

“The province is blessed with abundant sporting talent, with football being one of the leading codes of excellence. The talent on display at the games is remarkable and reassuring of the future of football in the country and in Gauteng, the home of Champions.”
