Gauteng Social Development notes fake social media post

The Gauteng Department of Social Development has recently noted with great concern a fake message on social media platforms stating that the Department collects service users at their homes for free after calling the helpline.

The Department would like to alert the public seeking help with drugs and substance abuse rehabilitation to follow proper channels and be cautious of fake messages.

Young people or families who are struggling with drugs and alcohol addiction can contact the Gauteng Provincial Anti-Substance Abuse Helpline on 0800 228 27, email at GPAntiSubstanceAbuse@gauteng.gov.za or USSD *134 * 47472# and follow prompts.

Applicants, if successful will be enrolled at a state rehabilitation centre and will be guided accordingly by Department’s Social Workers
