Thousands of South Africans are expected to gather at the Joburg Zoo on Saturday, November 22, for the Gauteng Walk 2025 — a flagship provincial event aimed at promoting unity, wellness and social transformation under the theme “Together we can, Together we change.”
The event is organised by Mzansi Act Now in partnership with Joburg City Parks & Zoo, YFM, Money Care, Fantide, the Gauteng Provincial Government, the Better Man 4 Tomorrow campaign, SANAC Men’s Sector, and several civil society and corporate stakeholders.
More than a fitness activity, the Gauteng Walk is positioned as a nationwide movement for awareness, healing and change.
The initiative seeks to encourage healthy living and mental wellness, while also challenging harmful gender norms and promoting safe spaces across communities in South Africa.
A Movement for Impact
Participants will have the option to take part in either a 5km or 8km route, designed to accommodate both casual walkers and committed runners in an inclusive, family-oriented setting.
The routes will lead attendees through some of Johannesburg’s scenic and historic surroundings, symbolising resilience and collective action.
A major feature of the day will be the Wellness Village — a hub offering free health screenings, entertainment, and educational exhibits aimed at boosting physical and mental well-being. The space is expected to spark community dialogue, advocacy and celebration.
“The Gauteng Walk is a reminder that transformation begins when we walk together — in health, in purpose, and in unity,” said Tebogo Edward Lerole, Chairman of Mzansi Act Now.
Corporate and Community Involvement Encouraged
Businesses, government departments and community groups are invited to register teams and join the movement.
Corporate packages include discounted group tickets and branding opportunities aligned with Corporate Social Investment (CSI), employee wellness, and gender equality programmes.
