Hit-and-run suspect wanted in Tshwane

Police in the City of Tshwane are searching for a man who allegedly caused an accident that left three children dead and four other people injured in Salvakop, Tshwane, on Saturday afternoon, January 7.

It is alleged that the suspect was driving his brother’s BMW at a high speed in Salvakop when he hit seven pedestrians.

“Three of the pedestrians were children aged between four and six years, who were certified dead at the scene. Four other pedestrians were taken to the local medical care centre,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo.

The driver of the BMW fled from the scene and police are looking for him.

Police have opened a case of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving as well as defeating the ends of justice.

“Police are appealing to any person who might have information that can help in finding the suspect to please call the nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Masondo explained.
