SAPS begins its recruitment drive seeking ten thousand recruits
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has taken a significant stride in its ongoing efforts to bolster law enforcement by announcing the commencement of its 2024/2025 recruitment campaign recently.
Deputy Minister Cassel Mathale emphasized that the overarching goal is to amplify crime-fighting capabilities, ensuring the safety and protection of communities.
General Fannie Masemola, the National Commissioner of the SAPS, echoed this sentiment, targeting individuals driven by a passion for public service and an unwavering commitment to their communities.
This campaign seeks to enlist an additional 10,000 young individuals, aged 18 to 35, to undergo training as officers to serve their communities
A stipend of R4500 will be paid monthly to all selected candidates.
How to apply for the Police Trainees post
The application forms are accessible on the SAPS website under the police trainees section, and they will also be distributed at all police stations from August 7.
The basic requirements for enlistment are that a candidate must be a South African citizen and be in possession of a matric certificate without a criminal record.
With approximately 9,000 trainees currently undergoing instruction across the nation’s academies, an additional 1,000 will join the ranks in January 2024.
This combined effort will culminate in a total of 10,000 recruits trained during the 2023/2024 fiscal year, with the 2024/2025 cohort set to embark on their training in April 2024.
The closing date for the Police Trainees post is on August 31.
