King Sweetkid ends the year off with Sugar Season festival

Rising to superstardom and making moves in the airwaves, Kgotso Makgale, also known as King SweetKid, is hosting the biggest event of the beginning of  this festive season.

The Sugar Season Festival will be taking place on Sunday, December 5, at Sol’s Cafe in Ratanda.

This year, the country’s biggest Hip Hop acts will be on stage alongside local artists and Djs.


According to Makgale, the event is the fifth one he has hosted and headlined.

He promises a very special event for all who will be attending.

“Its gonna be the biggest one of my life. The biggest night for all the people that love my music. Its going to be a big one,” King Sweetkid explains.

This year’s line-up is nothing short of spectacular.

Rappers like Reason, Touchline, Big Star Johnson and Kid X will be there.

The best Hip Hop Djs in the country like Dj Citi Lyts and Zan D are also scheduled to move the crowds.

Looking forward, Makgale says that the next Sugar Season Festival will be bigger and may be held at the stadium.

“It’s a big thing that I want from to live on forever, even after King Sweetkid is no more,” he said.

The Sugar Season Festival will open doors from 12 noon. COVID-19 protocols will be observed at the event.

This year, King Sweetkid has been on many platforms making an impact in the local Rap industry. He has been selected on Channel O’s Freshman Rappers for 2021.

He has also working with local sneaker brand, Vaya, and has launched his own podcast where he sits down with the best in Rap music and share insights into the industry and more.

His latest work, Highly Devoted LP, has been well received by his fans.

The nine-track production features a blend of King Sweetkid’s collection of his best work thus far.

“With this LP, I had so much time. There was no pressure. It took me a year and a few months,” he explained.

In the compilation, King Sweetkid features Big Star Johnson on a summer banger named Location. Other memorable track is Falling featuring vocals from Veena.

Recently, the Ratanda-born rapper and producer has been featured on Amasi by Shakespear with Touchline and Zolile 3K.

Earlier this year, he released a single called Ekse with Dj Citi Lyts.
