Lesedi Municipality Advertises 35 Ward-Based Community Services Positions

Lesedi Local Municipality has opened applications for a total of 35 temporary ward-based positions under its Community Services Department, aimed at strengthening HIV/AIDS, TB and community health interventions across the municipality.

The vacancies, advertised under Job Notice Number 17/2025, are part of a 12-month Ward-Based Programme and are open to residents of Lesedi Local Municipality who will be deployed within their respective wards.

The Closing date for all advertised vacancies is on 22 December 2025.

Ward-Based Educators (Field Workers)

The municipality is seeking to appoint 29 Ward-Based Educators (Field Workers), who will be allocated according to ward clustering across Wards 1 to 13.

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R4 000 for the duration of the contract.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Grade 10 or equivalent qualification
  • At least one year’s experience in public service or working for a non-profit organisation (NPO)
  • Experience in community-based projects

Key duties include community education on HIV/AIDS, TB and sexually transmitted infections, promoting healthy lifestyles, supporting treatment compliance, assisting vulnerable groups such as orphans and child-headed households, and collecting and reporting community data.

Applicants must be able to read and write, communicate effectively with communities, and accurately capture and submit reports.

Ward-Based Educators (Supervisors)

In addition, five Ward-Based Educator Supervisor positions are available. These posts carry a monthly stipend of R4 300.

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (post-matric qualification will be an added advantage)
  • At least one year’s experience in public service or NPO work
  • Experience in community-based projects and team leadership

Supervisors will be responsible for leading and monitoring field workers, consolidating team plans, compiling reports, and overseeing community-based HIV/AIDS and TB programmes at ward level.

Ward-Based Educator: Data Capturer

The municipality has also advertised one Data Capturer position, offering a monthly stipend of R4 500.

Requirements include:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • At least one year’s experience in public service or NPO work

The role involves capturing, analysing and verifying data collected by field workers, compiling daily, weekly and monthly reports, and supporting supervisors and coordinators with accurate information management.

Programme Focus and Conditions

All positions form part of Lesedi’s Ward-Based Programme, which focuses on:

  • Reducing new HIV infections
  • Promoting treatment compliance for HIV and TB

Supporting affected families and vulnerable groups

  • Encouraging openness, acceptance and behaviour change through education and communication

Applicants must be residents of Lesedi Local Municipality and will be required to specify their ward number for allocation purposes.

The municipality noted that transport and accommodation costs will not be reimbursed.
