Newly appointed Finance MEC Jacob Mamabolo will present his maiden address when he delivers the 2022 Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) and the Adjustment Budget to Gauteng Provincial Legislature on Thursday, November 24.
The MTBPS or ‘mini-budget’ promotes transparency and accountability in the management of public funds because it gives insight into the priorities of government, forecasts economic direction and projects.
The proceedings are expected to be publicly broadcast from 10 AM on The Gauteng Legislature YouTube page, SABC, CNBC Africa, Business Day TV and community radio stations in the province.
This year’s MTBPS comes at the time when the Gauteng Provincial Government is intensifying its programme to change the living conditions of people in the townships, informal settlements, and hostels.
A month earlier, the Finance minister Enoch Godongwana delivered the National MTBPS in the National Assembly. The Minister said that although there are challenges that the country’s economy is facing, the future looks bright.
A moderate growth of 1.6% has been predicted for the South African economy in the next three years.
