As of Saturday, September 5, South Africa’s confirmed COVID-19 cases has increased by 1806 new infections, taking the tally to 636 884.
The number of tests done is 3 783 823 with 18 123 new tests done.
About 101 COVID-19 related deaths: 45 from Kwa-Zulu Natal, 16 from Gauteng, 11 from Eastern Cape, 19 in Free State and 10 in the Western Cape. This brings the total number of deaths to 14 779.
“We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers that treated the deceased,” said Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize.
The current national recovery rate is at 88% with recoveries at 561 204.
