Mzansi ready for World Cross Country champs

South Africa is sending its best runners to compete in the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Australia.

The tournament is tough and respected worldwide, and Athletics South Africa has just announced the final national team for the event, which is taking place on February 18.

The South African senior men’s team is made up of some of the country’s strongest and most promising athletes. They will compete in the 10km race. The team includes Precious Mashele, Elroy Gelant, Mbuleli Mathanga, Maxime Chaumeton, and Mathews Leeto. Collen Mulaudzi will replace US-based athlete Adriaan Wildschutt in the final team.

The South African senior women’s team will also compete in the 10km race. The team includes national champion Glenrose Xaba, Kesa Molotsane, Cian Oldknow, Kyla Jacobs, Cacisile Sosibo, and Aynslee van Graan.

South Africa’s mixed relay team is very strong and includes top athletes like Caster Semenya, who won an Olympic gold medal in the 800m race. Prudence Sekgodiso, Ryan Mphahlele, and Tshepo Tshite are the other members of the relay team.

In the U-20 category, South Africa’s junior men’s team will compete in the 8km race. The team includes Dino Nako, Musawenkosi Mnisi, Reatlegile Mosweu, Jayde Rosslee, Siyabonga Xawana, and Sibusiso Msibi. The junior women’s team will compete in the 6km race, and the team includes Naledi Makgatha, Phemelo Matshaba, Omaatla Dikao, Li-Mari Dekker, and Wiepke Schoeman.

The World Athletics Cross Country Championships is a challenging event, and it brings together the best athletes from around the world. South Africa’s national team is ready to take on tough competition in both individual and team competitions.
