North West’s First Rural Career Expo Set to Empower Mabaalstad

In the heart of North West Province, a beacon of hope is shining bright, illuminating the path to success for rural learners.

The 1st Annual “The Rural” Career Expo, scheduled for February 2-3, is set to revolutionize the lives of approximately 4000 learners from eight rural high schools in the Dinaledi Circuit.

This groundbreaking event is more than just a career expo but ia movement. Organized by Baphiring Tribal Authority and The Princess & Friends Non-Profit Company (NPC), it’s a bold statement that rural learners deserve equal access to information and opportunities.

Baphiring Tribal Authority, one of the oldest and most respected traditional authorities in the North West Province, has a rich history of community development and empowerment. Their collaboration with The Princess & Friends NPC brings together the best of traditional values and modern innovation.

The Princess & Friends NPC, founded by HRH Princess Lerato M, is a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities through education, empowerment, and social development. Princess Lerato M, a respected member of the South African royal family, has long been an advocate for rural development and youth empowerment.

“We believe that rural learners’ dreams are just as valid as their urban counterparts,” say the organizers. “This expo is about dignity, access, and preparing rural youth for a rapidly changing world of work.”

She added that the expo will bring together royal leaders, government officials, universities, private companies, and potential employers, all united in their commitment to shaping the future of these young minds. “With a holistic approach, the event will cover various fields, including Commerce, STEM, Medical Sciences, Arts, and Humanities.”

Some highlights of the expo include:

  • Career guidance and future planning skills
  • Networking opportunities with potential institutions, mentors, and employers
  • Motivation and psychosocial support
  • Exposure to innovative careers and access to funding opportunities

This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration, with partners like the Department of Education, North West University, African Women Chartered Accountants, and BMW Rustenburg on board.

Boitumelo Moatshe founder of Bokamoso PR&Media, a supporting media partner, notes, “We’re committed to amplifying initiatives that drive education, youth development, and inclusive economic participation across South Africa,” he said with addition that the Rural Career Expo is an investment in the future of Mabaalstad’s communities, and its impact will be felt for generations to come.

“This is an event that will inspire, empower, and transform, we are calling on all the young mind to partake and benefit from it.”
