Organic and Natural Products Expo now with Bio-Trade Festival

September welcomes the return of the wellness expo by popular demand

Imagine how just R50 could change your life! For this small amount, you can unlock access to South Africa’s premier organics and natural event, a small investment guaranteed to reshape your daily choices regarding healthy, conscious living  – coupled with exposure to business opportunities in the growing organic and natural products sector.

Responding to the growing demand for more exhibitor space and sophisticated displays, this year the event re-locates to the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg from the 14th to the 16th of September.

Organised by South African Trade Promotions (SATP), this year it’s bigger and better –  with diverse and expansive offerings to consumers.

From food and beverages to skincare and makeup, household and baby products, health comes first as the expo provides a showcase of the best that Africa has to offer.

The event boasts exhibitors from countries across the Continent such as Ghana, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland, among others.

The South African Organic Sector Organisation (SAOSO) will be running its campaign #ChooseOrganic throughout the three days, with activations and competitions on Facebook and Instagram.

Biotrade is big business

In a significant development, the African Biotrade Festival (ABF) is co-located alongside the Expo for the first time.

Hosted in collaboration with the German aid agency GIZ and supported by the Departments of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment, and Trade, Industry, and Competition (dtic), ABF stands as Africa’s biggest gathering of the biodiversity ingredients and products sector.

Critical biotrade issues will be discussed in a 2-day conference on the 14th and 15th, including:

  • Sustainable use, value-add and market access for indigenous African plant biodiversity
  • Products and ingredients
  • The southern African biotrade journey, and the biotrade value chain
  • The role of small businesses and communities, and that of women and youth, within the value chain
  • Government’s work to create an enabling policy environment

Women’s Imbizo focuses on opportunities

Another exciting addition this year is the Women in Organic & Natural Products Imbizo, a groundbreaking initiative focused on empowering women entrepreneurs to thrive in the business world.

The theme of the inaugural event is “Organic & Natural Growth Opportunities Africa 2023.”

Topics on the Agenda include trends in the organic and natural products sector, as well as opportunities  – locally, regionally and internationally.

Following this, a panel of accomplished women will share their journeys, highlighting their challenges and triumphs. The programme also includes a session on financing, as well as a powerful presentation on sustainable procurement.

More than a sensory delight for consumers, the show’s significance has been described as “game-changing”.

Event co-organiser Warren Hickinbotham says, “The hosting of international buyers helps to put Africa on the map as a veritable basket of food and associated supplies to the world.”

Visitors can look forward to thought-provoking conferences, hands-on workshops, buyer-seller matchmaking opportunities, a robust B2B exchange of ideas, engaging demonstrations, and a solid grounding for investment and trade.
