Over six million residents jabbed in Gauteng
The Gauteng Provincial Government hosted the weekly COVID-19 briefing on Friday, November 5, revealing that over 6.1 million people have been vaccinated thus far.
As at 4 November 2021, 6.1 million vaccinations have been administered, with 4 million people receiving one dose of either J&J or Pfizer and 3.1 million people have been fully vaccinated.
In their efforts to intensify the national vaccination drive in the province, Gauteng has been on a 14-week campaign reaching the most far-flung communities since August.
“Mobile and pop-up vaccination sites are being activated at various locations across the province. Many employers have partnered with government and are setting up vaccination sites at their business premises to improve access to vaccines for their employees and surrounding communities,” reads the statement.
Government encourages people aged 18 years and older to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab.
According to the provincial health department, it is thought getting 70% or more of the adult population vaccinated that we can minimise the impact of the fourth
wave. This will also help us return to the things we love such as attending sporting, cultural, religious and entertainment events of our choice safely.
The Gauteng Provincial Government has also called on employers and any institution that would like their employees to get the jab to forward their requests to popupsite@gauteng.gov.za or call the Gauteng Hotline on: 0800 22 88 27.
“Vaccination education will also be provided,” aid the provincial government.
