🚨 Update: Captain Carla Prinsloo, Ermelo police spokesperson, reports that the individual and their lawyer visited the police station today.

The Mpumalanga police are actively seeking the person responsible for the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Smangaliso Innocent Nkosi at an Ermelo petrol station. The assailant, armed with a pistol, brazenly approached Nkosi and opened fire, prompting chaos as bystanders scattered in fear.

CCTV footage widely circulated on social media captures the victim engaged in conversation with friends before the sudden and swift attack. The shooter, undeterred, continues firing until the firearm is empty. In a chilling display of nonchalance, the assailant then collects and pockets the spent cartridges before calmly leaving the scene.

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect to come forward. Detective Sergeant Bheki Masina can be reached at 082 373 8389, or individuals can use the Crime Stop number 08600 10111. Confidential information can also be submitted via the MySAPS app.

Gang turf war escalates in Emerlo

The ongoing territorial feud in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, has taken a darker turn, marked by a sharp increase in violence and a rise in casualties. The Strachan and AmaJuda factions, engaged in a longstanding rivalry, are intensifying their conflict to gain control over local mines and a power station. This struggle for dominance has thrown the community into turmoil, with disturbing acts committed by young individuals vying for control.

Despite the escalating violence, the South African Police Service (SAPS) appears ill-equipped to stem the tide, leaving residents in a state of fear.

Recent incidents, including a fatal shooting at a local Engen Garage captured in a circulating video on social media, underscore the severity of the situation.
