Police Seek Information on Tragic Shooting in Ratanda

Ratanda police are appealing to the community for any information that could assist in solving the case of a 23-year-old man who was found shot in a pool of blood recently.

The incident took place at the corner of Sigasa and Blesbok streets, near Manqoba’s local Tuck Shop on the evening of July 14.

Shortly after the incident, Ratanda police received a telephonic complaint about a shooting around 7 pm.

“It is alleged that the deceased had just exited the shop after purchasing a cigarette when he was shot by an individual who had accompanied him. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting,” explained police spokesperson Moss Maluleke.

Police recovered five bullet cartridges from the crime scene.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and declared the victim dead on the scene. The deceased’s family has been notified of his passing.
