Ponte tower signals big changes at Vodacom

The famous Ponte Tower in Berea, central Johannesburg, has always been regarded as the ‘Vodacom Building’ with some assuming that the cellular network’s offices are located there.

The company’s logo has always been a prominent feature in the city’s skyscraper and it has been undergoing some changes recently.

The Ponte Tower’s Vodacom logo is currently being changed to Vodapay – the networks mobile ‘super-app’ that is almost like a digital wallet.

The innovative Vodapay was introduced to South Africans in October 2021.

According to reports, the app has over a million registered users so far.

“A super app is an all-in-one experience that give you access to many different service in one place. Without the need to download apps, you save storage space and enjoy a seamless experience between apps,” said Vodacom.

The app is a rival to digital financial services offered by most local banks. It also has online shopping, lifestyle choices and tools for business owners to run their enterprises efficiently using a single app.

Back to the Ponte Tower, the last time the top part of the structure was changed was when Vodacom changed from their signature blue and green logo to the current red one (similar to the international telecommunications network, Vodafone).

The building offers residential accommodation and is fully managed by Ponte City.
