Final Phase of Rand Water Maintenance Work at Mapleton and Palmiet System begins
Rand Water has recently issued a statement to all affected local and metro municipalities in Gauteng and Mpumalanga to alert residents of their scheduled maintenance.
The local utility is completing the last phase of its maintenance project, which started on 22 June and will end on 29 July 2024.
This work is essential to maintain the quality and reliability of our water infrastructure.
Mapleton System
- Maintenance starts on 26 July 2024 at 03:00 and ends on 29 July 2024 at 08:00.
- There will be no water pumping for 77 hours.
- Work includes connecting a new engine room, installing new disinfection plants, and replacing various valves.
- Affected areas: Cities of Tshwane and Ekurhuleni, and the local municipalities of Thembisile Hani, Lesedi, Govan Mbeki, and Victor Khanye.
- Affected reservoirs: Brakpan, Vlakfontein, Selcourt, Wildebeesfontein, Stompiesfontein, Modder East, and Bronberg.
Palmiet System
- Maintenance at Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant’s Engine Room 2 starts on 29 July 2024 at 05:00 and ends on 30 July 2024 at 21:00.
- Water pumping will be reduced to 76% capacity.
- Work includes providing flexibility at Engine Room 2 and replacing various valves.
- Affected areas: Cities of Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni, and Madibeng Local Municipality.
- Affected reservoirs: Klipriviersberg, Germiston, Meyers Hill, Klipfontein, Brakfontein, and Hartebeeshoek.
Residents in the affected areas should prepare for possible water disruptions during these times.
