New variant identified

The presidential address comes in the wake of news of a new variant identified in the country, which may call for stricter lockdown regulations to be put in place.

Acting minister of Health, briefed the media on Saturday, June 26, revealing that South Africa has identified the COVID-19 Delta strain.

This comes as the country’s battling a massive surge in new cases and reported deaths from the Coronavirus, called the third wave.
