Ratanda police looking for Phangela Street shooters

Ratanda police have opened murder and attempted murder cases after two people were shot at Phangela Street on Wednesday, September 14.

“Police received a complain of shooting occurred at Phangela Street, extension 23. Upon arrival, they found emergency services busy giving medical attention an unconscious Nelisiwe Sithole, who was lying on her back with visible injuries of gunshot on her body,” said Police spokesperson Sargent Moss Maluleke.

Sithole, aged 47, was declared deceased by paramedics on the scene.

According to eyewitness reports, the deceased and her driver were entering the house at Phangela Street when an white Volkswagen Jetta with unknown registration number parked by the gate.

Occupants of the unknown vehicle started shooting at the deceased’s vehicle. Nelisiwe tried to run around the house but unfortunately bullets were coming from close range were fatal.

She and the driver sustained gunshot wouds. The driver, an undisclosed adult man, got shot six times on his body and was rushed to hospital.

Police also found 16 firearm cartridges inside the yard.

“The motive of shooting is unknown and so far nobody had been arrested and police are pleading with community who have concrete information that could to arrest the perpetrators to contact the police on the below contacts:
