Ratanda SAPS Leads Community Crime Awareness Drive in Extension 3

Ratanda, 10 April 2025 — The Ratanda Police Station, under the leadership of Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel M.I. Ramotshabi, hosted a vital community engagement session at the Extension 3 community park on Wednesday, April 9.

The initiative, held in partnership with the Ratanda Community Policing Forum (CPF), aimed to tackle growing concerns around criminal activities in the area and strengthen cooperation between residents and law enforcement.

Community members gathered to hear the SAPS and CPF address pressing safety issues, including a rise in murder cases and concerns over police visibility in the area.

The event provided a platform for open dialogue and was part of ongoing efforts to improve public trust and promote responsible community policing.

During the engagement, residents were urged not to take the law into their own hands by assaulting suspects, but instead to report all criminal activity to the police to ensure justice is served lawfully and effectively.

Key issues discussed included:

Updates and feedback on murder investigations in the area.

The need for increased police patrols and vehicle visibility.

Encouragement for the community to report crimes rather than confronting dangerous situations alone.

Introduction of newly inducted CPF members, who will work closely with SAPS to maintain safety.

Residents were also given the opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions directly to the SAPS leadership, further solidifying the station’s commitment to transparent and accountable policing.

Ratanda SAPS has reaffirmed its dedication to building and sustaining a positive relationship with the community.

Residents are urged to report any criminal activity by contacting Ratanda SAPS at 016 343 7014, calling the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111, or using the MySAPS app for anonymous tip-offs.
