SASSA Grant Increases from October 2024
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed an increase in social grant amounts, effective from October 2024, aimed at further supporting beneficiaries.
This marks the second increase in 2024, following one implemented in April, as part of the government’s ongoing commitment announced by the Finance Minister in the budget speech earlier this year.
New Social Grant Amounts
As of October 2024, the revised amounts for the various social grants are as follows:
- Old Age Grant (Below 75 years): Increased from R2,180 to R2,190
- Old Age Grant (Above 75 years): Increased from R2,200 to R2,210
- War Veteran’s Grant: Increased from R2,200 to R2,210
- Disability Grant: Increased from R2,180 to R2,190
- Care Dependency Grant: Increased from R2,180 to R2,190.
SASSA also outlined the payment dates for October 2024, beginning with Old Age Grants on Wednesday, October 2.
SASSA has reminded beneficiaries that there is no need to rush and withdraw all funds on the first day of payment.
