The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released the dates for social grant payments for the month of June, starting from Friday, the 2nd.
- Older persons, including linked grants – June 2
- Disability grants including linked grants – June 5
- Children’s and all other grants – June 6
- Note: there is no fixed payment date for the special COVID-19 SRD
“It is recommended that clients open their own bank accounts with an institution of their choice as it will assist them to take ownership of their funds and collection,” said SASS

“SASSA/SAPO card can still be used as a debit card at ATM’s and counters of different merchants such as SPAR, Checkers, Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Cambridge, and others. SASSA cards valid until end of 2023
This means that social grants recipients can continue using their expired cards for social grants payment transactions at ATMs and merchant point of sale (POS) withdrawals and purchases without the need to collect new cards or switch to other banks.
