Fake News: Bean Drivin and Starbucks Partnership

UPDATE: Starbucks South Africa has issued a public statement on December 6 confirming that there is no partnership with Bean Drivin.

Here’s the social media post.

“To all loyal customers. Please be cautious of any false claims circulating in the South African Media and on Social Media platforms. Starbucks has no partnership, collaboration, or business relationship with Bean Drivin.”

Mapepeza has also apologized to its readers for the misinformation caused from publishing the sponsored article commissioned by an agent who purchased a slot on the news website. The article has since been removed across all platforms.

“We do apologize for any inconveniences caused by the previously published article. It was sponsored and we did not verify the information received as we are obligated to post content as is when it has been paid for. This is a learning curve and we’ll do better in verifying all information received, including any promotions,” Stephen Seakgwe, Mapepeza Publisher, stated.
