Orange Farm police responded to a shooting incident at the Orange Farm Ext 10 Taxi Association Office.
On the arrival at the scene the cops found two males who were shot, one of which had already died.
According to SAPS spokesperson Warrent Officer Maliehe, through interviewing the eye-witness, they found out that a Black VW Polo (with unknown registration number) came by and open fire on people that were sitting outside the office.
“The deceased was identified as the Chairperson of the Taxi Association Mr Themba Khubeka,” said officer Maliehe.
Whilst the other man sustained serious injuries and was taken to the nearest Hospital, it is not known what might the cause of this brutal act.
“A case docket of murder and attempted murder is opened and invistigated by Orange Farm SAPS. No arrests have been made yet,” said Maliehe.
This incident comes after murder and seven counts of attempted murder that occurred last month. Two vehicles arrived at the Eyethu Mall Orange Farms Taxi Rank, where suspects blocked the main road and fire several shots with rifles in the air.
The gun slingersbwent to the taxi rank near the mall and shot at the owners and drivers of Orange Farm Taxi Association (OFUTA). A civilian was shot in the head and was declared dead on the scene. Seven members of OFUTA were wounded and taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Of the victims of that incident, three were taxi owners and three were taxi drivers. There were six vehicles damaged by bullet holes, the registrations of the two vehicles are unknown.
There is no video footage to identify these suspects as the cameras at the taxi rank are not working.
