Tsakane Sono is the 43rd Miss Soweto after being crowned at a glittering pageant finale held at the Soweto Theatre on Saturday, November 26.
The 24-year old Chiawelo native took home a cash price of R100 000.
Sono impressed the crowd with how she handled her question from Emmanuel Tjiya, one of the judges in the contest.
In the end, beautiful and elegant Sono took centre stage, flanked by Fezile Ntloko and Karabo Legodi, as her first and second princesses respectively.
Lerato Gulile walked away with the Miss Congeniality tittle.
Reflecting on the festive spirit of the times, quests were treated to the vibrant music of wildly popular Amapiano artists, Daliwonga and multi-platinum-selling and award winning artist Vusi Nova.
Jozi FM presenter and 2009 Miss Soweto runner up, Refiloe Motsei, returned as co-host of the pageant for the sixth consecutive year and delighted fans with her energetic presence once more.
She was joined by TV presenter and media personality, Thabiso Makhubela, the popular anchor of SABC’s 3’s breakfast show, Espresso, who returned for the second consecutive year.
