The Johannesburg Central Cluster arrested about 141 suspects for various offenses during crime combating operations with other law enforcement agencies that were conducted from Friday (November 11) and ended on Sunday morning November 13.
Suspects were arrested around Mondeor, Sophia Town, Brixton, Fairlands, Langlaagte, Booysens, Moffatview and Johannesburg Central area and have been detained in the respective stations.
“Among the suspects who were arrested during the operations; two suspects were arrested for murder, six for possession of unlicensed firearms, five for business robbery, two for rape, six for possession of car breaking implements, fourteen for domestic violence and three for tampering with infrastructure,” Joburg police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Xoli Mbele.
The rest of the suspects were apprehended for committing other crimes ranging from assault common, assault with grievous bodily harm, theft, fraud, malicious damage to property, shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property, business breaking, possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, possession of a dangerous weapon, impersonating police, selling liquor without a license, common robbery and drunk and driving.
Most of the suspects are appearing on Monday, November 14, in various Magistrate Courts around the city.
