Broos Believes in Bafana’s Path to Morocco
Coach hopes to end year on a winning streak
South Africa’s national soccer team, Bafana Bafana, faces a challenging yet pivotal week as they look to secure qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco next year.
Coach Hugo Broos acknowledged that the upcoming away match against Uganda will be no easy task, but he remains confident that the squad is up to the challenge and end the year on a good note.
“We can end 2024 on a fantastic note. We started the year very well with the bronze medal (at the AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire) and it would be nice to end it with qualification for AFCON again,” he said.
Bafana will take on Uganda in Kampala on Friday, November 15, before returning home to face South Sudan on Tuesday, November 19, at DHL Cape Town Stadium.
These back-to-back matches are critical, with both games carrying significant weight in determining whether Bafana Bafana will clinch their spot in AFCON 2025.
Broos believes his squad has what it takes to bring home the results South Africans are hoping for. “Playing Uganda on their home ground will be tough,” he said, “but I believe in the team’s ability to rise to the occasion and deliver.”
As Bafana Bafana heads into these high-stakes encounters, the country is called to come together as a nation to show our support.
