The police have appealed to community of Balfour in the Dipaleseng Local Municipality or anyone with information regarding the recently discovered deceased body of a 49-year-old man who was reported missing.
According to Mpumalanga police, they found partly burnt and dumped in the backyard of a house at Siyathemba township on Thursday, December 21.
According to information, police were doing their routine patrols when they were stopped by a resident who made a gruesome discovery in his backyard.
“He informed police about the unknown motionless body in his yard. Police responded and it was during this period when they found the body wrapped with a blanket and partly burnt,” Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.
Medical practitioners also attended the scene and victim was certified dead.
“The victim was identified by his family members who was reported missing on Sunday, 17 December 2023 at about 9pm. The motive behind the heartless killing is unknown at this stage.”
“The investigation into the murder continues though no was arrested hence Police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the perpetrator(s) to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MySAPSApp,” said Mohlala.
All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned the senseless killing.
The General indicated that police will work around the clock to bring perpetrators thereof to book.
