City Host Successful Mayoral Community Meetings

Wednesday 21 November became one of the momentous dates in the administration of Executive Mayor, Alderman Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, as he hosted izimbizo in five venues on the same night along with his ten Members of the Mayoral Committee.

Community members came out in their numbers across the areas of Phomolong, Katlehong, KwaThema, Daveyton and Mackenzieville expressing the great need of having such regular meetings between the city’s leadership and residents.

The Mayor and MMCs presented a report to communities entailing the work they have done and continue doing to improve service delivery, also urging residents to be active participants in making the process towards growth and improvement a success.

The executive leadership made a clarion call to residents to treat water like the precious resource it is and use it wisely.

The pleas also extended to refraining from illegal dumping which leads to damaged problematic sewer system due to foreign objects being thrown in it.

Furthermore, community members across the municipality have been urged to pay for services provided by the City to ensure consistency of such provision.

Residents eagerly took the platform to voice their varied concerns which included more job opportunities, unlocking of bursary schemes, electrification of all areas and longer operating hours at clinics.

These were the last instalment of Mayoral Izimbizo for this year, however regular ones will be announced for the coming year set to visit all communities of Ekurhuleni.
