Department of Tourism Opens 2026–2028 Internship Programme

The Department of Tourism has announced the launch of its 24-month Internship Programme for the 2026–2028 cycle, inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for opportunities across a wide range of fields.

Successful candidates will earn a monthly stipend of R7 450.58.

The programme, which aims to equip young graduates with practical workplace experience in the public sector, is open to applicants under the age of 35 who have not previously participated in any government internship.

Applications close on 19 December 2025.

Graduates are encouraged to apply in the fields aligned to the department’s core business, including Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, Digital Transformation, Human Resources, ICT, Law, Auditing, Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain, Construction Project Management, Economics, Policy Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, International Relations, and more.

Applications must be addressed to the Director-General and delivered to Tourism House, 17 Trevenna Street, Sunnyside, Pretoria, or posted to Private Bag X424, Pretoria, 0001. Alternatively, submissions may be emailed to internshipadmin2026-28@tourism.gov.za.

Applicants must submit a completed and signed Z83 form, along with a detailed CV. Certified copies of qualifications and identity documents will only be required from shortlisted candidates.

Those applying are advised to clearly indicate the reference number corresponding to their field of study and attach their academic modules to their CV.

The department emphasised that incomplete applications will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates will undergo interviews to assess their suitability for placement.

The internship runs for 24 months, and successful candidates will be required to sign a two-year contract.
