In a landmark moment for local housing development, the Dipaleseng Local Municipality, led by Executive Mayor Cllr. N.B. Khanye, has officially handed over 100 title deeds to beneficiaries in Ridgeview, Siyathemba.
The event, held recently, brought smiles and a renewed sense of pride to residents who have long awaited formal ownership of their homes.
The handover marks more than a symbolic gesture — it represents a crucial step toward security of tenure and community empowerment.
With their title deeds in hand, homeowners now hold the legal assurance of property ownership, the right to transfer their homes to future generations, and improved access to financial and developmental opportunities.
Executive Mayor Busi Khanye highlighted the municipality’s commitment to ensuring that housing delivery translates into lasting empowerment. “This initiative is about restoring dignity and creating stability for our people. Owning a home gives families a foundation to build a better future,” she said.
In her address, Cllr. Khanye also used the occasion to raise awareness about Cancer Awareness Month, stressing the importance of early detection, regular health screenings, and supporting those affected by the disease. She urged communities to take proactive steps toward education and prevention.
The Executive Mayor further condemned the ongoing scourge of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), calling for unity and continuous advocacy to combat the crisis. “We must all stand together to end GBVF. It is not a women’s issue alone — it is a societal issue that demands collective action,” she emphasized.
The atmosphere at the event was filled with celebration and emotion as new homeowners expressed deep gratitude for receiving official proof of ownership. Many described the moment as life-changing, symbolizing years of patience finally rewarded with security and peace of mind.
The Ridgeview title deed handover forms part of a broader collaboration between the Dipaleseng Local Municipality and the Mpumalanga Provincial Department of COGHSTA, aimed at promoting sustainable human settlements and dignified living conditions.
Ridgeview itself is a fast-growing township, featuring over 1,500 housing units and a newly constructed Early Childhood Development Centre built by the provincial government.
Through such initiatives, the municipality continues to demonstrate its dedication to responsive governance and community upliftment.
As Dipaleseng rolls out similar projects across the region, events like this reaffirm government’s mission to create inclusive, thriving communities and a better future for all.
