Elderly People Movement for Change Seeks Help for ID-Less Citizens

The Elderly People Movement for Change is calling on Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) to intervene on behalf of four Gauteng citizens struggling to obtain identity documents (IDs).

Ms Tholokuhle Pertunia Mabuza (19), Mr Joshua Lumkile Mambendu, Kamvalethu Ngcingweni (21), and Mr Mandlenkosi Phillip Makhubela (63) are facing significant challenges accessing basic rights and services due to lack of IDs.

The ID crisis is hindering their ability to access government services, vote, open bank accounts, secure employment, and access old age grants, said Mr Motsamai Mohapi activist.

According to the movement, they are seeking LHR’s expertise and advocacy to resolve the issue and ensure the citizens receive the IDs they need.

LHR has responded, requesting a WhatsApp text to their nearest office to discuss further assistance. The offices are located in Pretoria (064 647 4719), Johannesburg (066 076 8845), and Durban (067 258 6020).
