Gauteng Finance MEC tables MTBPS 2021
Gauteng MEC for Finance and e-Government, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, will present Gauteng’s 2021 Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement and the Adjustments Budget to the Legislature on Thursday, December 9.
The MTBPS will outline how the Gauteng Provincial Government will, over the next three years, work within a challenging fiscal environment to resource its priorities and expand the delivery of quality public services to citizens.
The MEC will also present the 2021/22 Adjustment Budget to cater for unforeseen and unavoidable expenditure.
The provincial address comes after the National MTBPS last month by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana.
In his address, Godongwana called for tighter spending of government coffers due to rising expenditures.
“Treasury said government expenditure has exceeded revenue in every year since 2008/09. In that time, the consolidated budget has grown from R712.8 billion in 2008/09 to R2.13 trillion in 2021/22 – an average increase of 8.8% per year. Higher expenditure has not always been efficient or effective,” said the minister.
The Gauteng MTBPS will be broadcast live on the Legislature’s YouTube page, CNBC Africa, Business Day TV, SABC and Community Radio Stations from 10 AM.
