Gauteng tourism gets a boost from upcoming DSTV festival
Heritage Month in Mzansi brings along fresh flavour, music, aromas and colors to welcome the Spring season.
This year, things are no different when the annual Dstv Delicious International Food and Music Festival arrives.
Set to take place on the the Heritage Weekend of September 24-25 at the Kyalami Grand Prix, the event has
over the years grown to become not only the golden province’s biggest tourism booster, but of South Africa at large.
As one of the sponsors, the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially welcomed the return of 8th edition of province’s leading lifestyle and entertainment event after two-years of plummeting tourism revenues, severe job losses in the sector, international and
domestic travel restrictions as well as gatherings, and the hosting of events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to providing two days of jam-packed entertainment, the business end of the festival is what impresses the most.

Boost for local business and tourism
Beyond the fun, lifestyle, and music performances for over 60 000 spectators; the event is also expected to generate 268 million worth of rand value, activate 1230 job opportunities, 700 permanent jobs and a further R8 million estimated into the pockets of SMMEs who inclusively comprise of 300 food and beverage traders.
According to the GTA, than 2000 tickets have been sold from Botswana and 600 local, regional, and international media will be hosted over the Heritage Weekend.
“The event represents millions of Rands in local procurement and is a significant creator of jobs both directly and indirectly which is exactly the key message we preach – buy local to create jobs,” says GTA CEO Sthembiso Dlamini.
