Late EMPD Officer’s Wife Arrested for His Murder

The wife of the late Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officer, Banele Sikhosana, was arrested this afternoon while preparing for his funeral, scheduled for the next day on Saturday.

Officer Sikhosana was shot and killed last week while opening his tuck shop in Kwa-Thema’s Rest in Peace section.

Police had earlier arrested a hitman who confessed to carrying out the killing with the officer’s wife.

Authorities revealed that this was not the first attempt on Sikhosana’s life. The wife allegedly tried to poison him before, but he survived.

Acting EMPD Chief of Police, Julius Mkhwanazi, stated that the hitman admitted to being paid by the wife, with the final payment made shortly after Sikhosana’s murder. One more suspect remains at large, but police say they are close to making an arrest.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 17.
