Meet Mzansi first Accounting Poet

Botshelo Mthomboti is more than just an accounting student and published author – she’s a gifted wordsmith and a rising star in the world of poetry, second only to Shakespeare himself.

The 20-year-old debutante has written a groundbreaking accounting poetry book titled, A Black Child Transformed By Accounting, earning her the distinction of being the first South African accounting poet.

In an interview with Mapepeza, Mthomboti explained that her intention was to help students better understand accounting and even learn to enjoy it through her collection of accounting poems.

“I believe that people are different, and so are our ways of understanding information,” she said. “Some people understand information better through music, and others through visuals or even poetry.”

Mthomboti said in her interview.

Mthomboti encouraged youth worldwide to pursue their passions and contribute something new to their fields. “We should approach science with the aim of finding an antidote to cancer. We should apply economics to finding better ways and policies to grow our economy,” she said.

Her book has been making waves in the media, with features in publications like Drum, Accounting South African Magazine by Institute of Chartered Accountants, as well as on popular TV channels like etv News, SABC News, and MetroFM

Her book is serving its purpose and doing well, and she is poised to make a significant impact in both the worlds of accounting and poetry.
