Merafong City Local Municipality Executive Mayor Councillor Nozuko Best, on Monday, 04 February 2025, issued certificates to the EPWP (Extended Public Works Programme) participants in Merafong City.
According to Mayor Best, one of the conditions for receiving an incentive grant is that participants must undergo training to enhance their skills and increase their chances of competing in the open job market.
“The municipality has organized two training programs, with the first one being completed. Participants received competency certificates in first aid”
As part of the agreement, the participants are expected to complete training on Basic computer before the end of the 2024/2025 financial year.
“This training will equip them with essential computer skills that are essential in today’s job market,by providing these training opportunities, the municipality is not just fulfilling a requirement for receiving the incentive grant, but also investing in the development and future employability of its community members”
Furthermore, Best added competency certificates and computer training will give participants a competitive edge and increase their chances of securing gainful employment.
