Mpumalanga hosts Water and Sanitation Indaba

Mpumalanga Government officials, water experts, and community stakeholders will converge on Secunda for a two-day Indaba aimed at tackling the province’s mounting water and sanitation challenges.

The Water and Sanitation Indaba, scheduled for 7-8 October at the Sasol Club, has been organised by Paradigm Shift Holdings in partnership with the Department of Water and Sanitation and the Provincial Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA).

The event comes as President Cyril Ramaphosa has elevated water and sanitation to a top government priority, with concerns growing over water security and adequate provision across municipalities countrywide.

Collaborative Solutions

According to organisers, the indaba will serve as a platform for stakeholders to engage on critical water-related issues, build partnerships, and develop solutions to pressing challenges facing the sector.

The event follows an earlier Water Summit, demonstrating government’s continued commitment to addressing water security concerns.

Key objectives include fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders, addressing local water challenges such as infrastructure deficiencies, pollution, and access issues, and promoting water conservation and sustainability practices.

Organisers also hope to explore how improved water management can contribute to local economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction.

Led by the Member of the Provincial Executive Committee for CoGTA and Human Settlements, MEC Speed Mashilo, two-day programme will feature keynote speakers sharing expertise on water-related topics, panel discussions with experts, and interactive sessions among stakeholders.

Participants can register as delegates, panellists, sponsors, partners, or facilitators for workshops and breakout sessions.
