Mzansi COVID-19 vaccinations reaches ten million
In the latest COVID-19 related statistics, the Department of Health had confirmed that 10, 167, 749 vaccines have been administered so far.
Despite such progress in the inoculation, many vaccination sites have seen less than expected rates of people coming in.
To counter that, Government has opened the online vaccines registration for citizens aged between 18 and 34 years of age.
People in that age group will be able to register from Friday, August 20.
The Department also confirmed that people can also use their birth certificates that have an ID number to register if they don’t have smart ID card.

Latest COVID-19 update
As of Thursday, August 19, the cumulative number of cases identified is 2 652 652 with 13 672 new cases reported.
“Today 317 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 78 694 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 2 411 753 with a recovery rate of 90,9%,” said the Health department in a statement.
According to the statistics, Kwa-Zulu Natal leads the active cases at 53 761 out of the country’s 162 205 cases.
