Organic and Natural Products Expo Africa Returns with Record Participation

The Organic and Natural Products Expo Africa is back at the Sandton Convention Centre from Thursday to Sunday (September 18-20), promising its biggest edition yet.

More than 2,500 trade visitors have already registered, alongside 250 delegates for the co-hosted African Biotrade Festival (ABF).

Organisers say the surge reflects Africa’s growing role in the global organic market. “This expo has become the bridge between grassroots innovation and commercial success,” said Warren Hickinbotham, Head of Sponsorships and Partnerships.

Spotlight on Women Leaders

A major highlight is the Women’s Imbizo on 19 September, featuring voices from across the sector. Panels will cover financial health, agricultural education, traditional medicine, and circular economy practices. Speakers include Alan Rosenberg (SAOSO), Nicci Robertson (Re-Invent Health), and Dr Jane Mackenzie (365 Healthy By Choice). Standard Bank and SAB Foundation will also showcase support for female entrepreneurs.

The Innovation Hub will showcase 20 township entrepreneurs through its Ekasi Labs programme.

“Our entrepreneurs see real business opportunities here,” said Hector Ndlovu, Business Development Officer at the Hub.

Delegates from Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and beyond will join, alongside buyers from Europe. “We’re here to connect South African SMEs with global markets,” said Naomi Bossett of Germany’s Import Promotion Desk.

The ABF highlights African plant-based ingredients for food, health, and beauty. It is hosted by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, with support from the dtic, DSTI, and international partners.

The Organic & Natural Products Expo Africa is the continent’s only dedicated showcase for organic and natural industries. Supported by SAOSO, HPA, and CECOSA, it connects local producers with regional and global markets.
